Bhangra is a lively form of dance that originated in the Punjab region in South Asia. While Bhangra began as part of harvest and Vaisakhi festival celebrations, it found its way to the performance stage after the division of Punjab in 1947.

Bhangra has enjoyed a surge in popularity worldwide, both in traditional form and as a fusion with genres such as hip hop, house and reggae. ABC will perform two pieces representative of both styles of Bhangra—one traditional and the second with modern choreography.

Formed this year, Apna Bhangra Crew is an all male Bhangra team from the greater Seattle. One of the youngest teams in the Bhangra scene, ABC was brought together by their love for Bhangra and desire to spread East Indian cultural awareness through dance.
